And here I find myself posting on this old blog as I feel thefeel the need feel the need to document everything I'm currently going through right now it is 2018 last year Thanksgiving 2017 shortly after Thanksgiving a couple days after Thanksgiving actually I had a a stroke. I was in a coma for one week when I woke up I was paralyzed on my left side I am currently paralyzed I cannot move my left arm or my left leg I have trouble standing and I can't movemove around unless I'm using my wheelchair which I am so grateful my family had immediately bought for me II also use a walker and a cane

1/23/2016 Update For Our Crowdfunding Backers

You guys are amazing with all your support and positive comments through facebook, emails, and even bumping into some of you guys in person.

Here's what's going on.

1) We've officially updated http://reddmovie.com and the movie is now Officially Released on DVD as well as Digital Download. We were going to wait a little longer til all the Kickstarter and IndieGoGo DVD's were out first but alot of you wanted to buy extras, and then the link for the store got out, so we went ahead and made the official announcement.

2) We've been shipping the Kickstarter and IndieGoGo DVD's out in batches as well as alot of the perks, if you haven't gotten yours yet, don't fret, it's on the way. I've got messages from some of you who have gotten them already. So glad you have them now and are enjoying them. We're shipping to all the verified addresses first, meaning the addresses we know for certain are correct or that you all have confirmed is the correct address. We're going to send out an update to let everyone know once we've shipped everything that way we can make sure every one is getting what they are supposed to.

3) The behind the scenes making of R.E.D.D. has grown into it's own movie. The full-length documentary will be released online for free. Here's a sample of the first 5 minutes of the movie which will give you a glimpse of the struggles we had to go through making this movie.

4) Back in 2012 we had a video that celebrated our successful Kickstarter. To celebrate the release of the movie now, I've updated the video with new footage. This is also a huge thank you to all the people that helped make this movie happen.

 5) Some of you have actually asked if there was going to be a sequel and what I'll be working on next. There is a sequel written but we won't even look at that til we knock out a few more movies. Coming up next is a new feature film which we'll be talking more about this year. It's another action adventure with horror elements, but this time about Fairies. After 4 years of work (More like 5 and a half years) it's strange for this to be a finished film and out on DVD. Indie Film Vs. Cancer

Indie Filmmaker Patrick A. Prejusa has created an epic Sci-Fi Adventure movie utilizing old school Star Wars style special fx. Building model ships out of plastic bottles and designing giant werewolf costumes out of duct tape and cardboard, he has created an impressve movie that has already been an official selection at The Indie Film Fest in Switzerland and the Film Spark Film Festival.

Forgoing the traditional distribution route, Patrick has decided to ignore distributors and attempt self ditributing the movie himself. In honor of his mother who is a breast cancer survivor, a dollar from every sale of the film is going to Cancer Charities.

Just in time for Halloween, the movie, which features an Action Sci-Fi version of Red Riding Hood fighting Monsters, is being distributed digitally at reddmovie.com. It's being released Wednesday October 28th and will be available to purchase for download or to stream as a rental.

The movie was shot in North Carolina and parts of DFW, TX. and Grand Prairie and edited in Grand Prairie, TX. R.E.D.D. is a fantasy action adventure filled with horror twists, surprising comedy, and proper nods to kung fu, and sci-fi flicks. This is a low-budget flick made on a shoe string budget, financed through a very successful Kickstarter campaign. This is movie is the ultimate in epic indie moviemaking.

Sci-Fi Author John Davis calls R.E.D.D. "The Most Creative movie of 2015" and says that "R.E.D.D. is smart, funny, and well done from start to finish."

After years of struggle, setbacks, blocks, drama, and delays. R.E.D.D. is finally finished.

The Long Journey to The Final Cut

We started off so strong and ambitious. Enthusiastically posting video blogs on our progress. And with any project of any kind you face delays and blocks. It's how life is. Things change along the way and you have to find ways to adapt and overcome. That's normal.

We faced cast changes. Had to cut some parts and write in new ones. Mainly to fix storyline problems. We ended up cutting scenes and reshooting alot due to that, and to mistakes, the weather, and life in general.

We ended up not being able to use Addy Miller. The schedules just didn't match up. Though we'd love to work with her in the future.

And again with the weather. From dealing with the seriously hot to the seriously cold. It delayed us quite a bit. But we pushed through.

Once I started in post the real work began. My over ambition wanted to attempt FX shots that I'd never done before. I became obsessed with figuring it all out. How do I make this shot happen? How do I make it like it is in my head? And how can I plus it? How can I make it absolutely perfect.

Then life happened. That's when the posts slowed to a stop. And without getting too in-depth I'll sum it up. Me and my wife got separated and decided to get divorced. If you can avoid such a stress I recommend not going through this. The drama, the stress of it, and the pressure I was putting on myself in my work and in finishing the movie was coming down on me. And because of it I ended up getting ill. Hospital visits due to stomach pains and other health problems I don't want to get into was slowing me down. And since the production relied on me entirely, when I slow down, the movie slowed down. It became a struggle to get through post and I definitely didn't want to post updates if it was just going to be about my medical condition or my divorce. I mean what a frickin drag.

Months became years. Slowly I was getting through post and all the fx work. It wasn't until late last year that I was able to fight through the crap and really concentrate on finishing what I started. Getting to a final cut.

I was excited again. I knew for sure we could get this movie all wrapped up by this winter. Did we do it?

Yes and no.

The movie is at a final cut. It is complete visually. I've watched it. And now that I have my full concentration on it I realize that my work on the sound portion of it is not up to par. My problem is I take on everything and I have trouble asking for help. I'm a control freak. Even when I'm physically ill and can't do anything, I push people away insisting that I can still do it. And as much as I tried to work on everything at once in post I have to admit that the sound mix needs special attention. Translation, I need help.

Thankfully I was contacted by an old friend who has more experience in sound editing than anyone I know. And although the movie is technically finished, the sound mix goes back to the drawing board. The sound mix is so very important. As my old mentor use to say, people can watch a movie with bad sound then afterward tell you that they thought the lighting was bad. It can effect your movie in ways people don't even realize.

The reveal of R.E.D.D. is on the horizon. I thank everyone who continued to support me and my crew even in those long ass breaks between posts. New emails will be sent out to get updates on everyone's contact info so we can get your perks ad DVD copies.

Some of you had asked why we started a new Facebook. We started the original one back when REDD was just a short film and a concept and now that it has evolved into a full fledged feature film we needed a new Facebook page that better represents what it actually is now.

You have to fight to hold on to that vision. Cuz when you're one guy making a movie on his own it's easy to let the details beat you down. Building the ship, the greenscreen, setting up the lights, picking the right lens, directing the scene, compositing the shot, placing explosions, timing the fx, scoring the scene, and color correcting a 10 second shot in a 4 minute scene that's crucial to the theme of your story. All in the hopes that somehow the audience will click with what you're trying to say. And if somehow I fail, I'll just have to get ya with the next movie.

The Art Of What Not To Show

IS REDD READY YET?

That's the big question isn't it. Delays galore, personal matters, and the realities that come with being a one man movie maker have all contributed to the slow pace of reaching completion. Yes I've been tweaking fx shots, edits, sound and score as I've trudged through post while working the day job.

Ironically one of the things that has become part of the day job has been making Kickstarter and IndieGoGo videos for other people. Since the end of the original Kickstarter campaign I got hired to do alot of Crowdfunding videos.

But as I look at the editing timeline I do indeed see a near complete movie. So what's the major delay now?

Writing.

The writing never really does stop. It started in my head, went to a script, and as you collaborate with your cast and crew and deal with production realities, the story gets tweaked. You find there are things you can't do, things you didn't realize you could do, and because of that the story changes. Not the complete story, but how the story is told. As long as we can stay true to the very essence of the script we're good.

But that writing, that tweaking continues on into post. Right now I'm looking at cutting a couple of scenes and plot points which are not necessary to the story. And that's the rule, if you find something that doesn't push the story forward you have to cut it. These are scenes and ideas that at one point I thought contributed greatly to the plot. But now that I see the movie coming together as a complete product, I realize they're not necessary, and may very well hold the story back.

Forget how much effort you put into those scenes, writing them, shooting them, scoring them, doing the FX for them. If it has to go, it has to go. But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna take a bit of time to whine about it. And so I continue through post, making sure the scenes are tight, and rearranging bits here and there to make sure we're telling a coherent story minus those unnecessary bits, no matter how cool they might have been. Now we'll have something to show in the deleted scene section.

We've got some pretty nifty Vlogs coming up and possibly some news on what fests and venues we may hold some screenings at. But first things first. As soon as we've got the complete final cut we finally send out the DVD's and digital downloads to you our lovely Kickstarter and IndieGoGo supporters.

STILL ALIVE!!!

HOLY CRAP! 2013 was a heck of a year. Especially the last half. The REDD blog's last post was July 25th.

After that the updates just stopped. For that I greatly apologize. We kept up with a few updates here and there on Facebook, and I'd post an update on Twitter or Instagram here and there. But I failed to do full updates on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo. I apologize for that and won't let it happen again.

Truth is since July life got turned upside down for me. I won't give you the full on sob story, just know there was alot of drama in my personal life, and alot of reality hit many of my crew for that last half of 2013. It happens especially when undertaking such an epic endeavor. We've continued to work post production for REDD and we've gotten alot done all the way til now, but we had to fight to really get to work on this thing.

Now things are back on track and we're able to concentrate alot more on finishing this. AND WE'RE SO CLOSE!!!

Right now we're still tweaking things in post and we're deep into sound editing and ADR. Still a bunch of FX shots that need to be worked on, but an end is actually in sight. I'm aiming for April to finally get this shown to our Kickstarter and IndieGoGo peeps and then the rest of the world later that Summer.
